Through feedback from prisoners, impact is monitored and recorded and feeds into the Reducing reoffending function and Family and Significant Others targets and measures at Lewes prison. Prison Family Support also measures outcomes with 5 specific target questions. Examples of feedback from prisoners to the question ‘If this support was not available, how would your circumstances be different now?’ ‘ It was very difficult before the support and since the day of receiving their help, they have been there through complicated processes every step of the way.’ ‘I have held many positions in the prison including Safer custody Rep and I can confidently say that without this support, the risk of self harm would sharply increase…’ ‘Without Alice and Laura’s support, my mental health would have gone through the roof…. I don’t know how I would have coped without them’ ‘ Without their help I would have been an anxious mess’ ‘ I would not have been able to contribute to my daughter’s child protection plan’ ‘I wouldn’t have learnt a lot of things I didn’t think about when it comes to being a parent and considering my child’s needs.’ ‘If this support was not available, not being able to communicate with social services would have led to further breakdown of communication leading to feelings of abandonment, depression and anxiety’ - Go Back -
